Picture yourself arriving at FCCHB on a Sunday.
A handshake past, coffee in hand, eyes searching for home. This isn’t just another service; it’s the opening of a story that invites deeper participation. John Mark Comer opens the Practicing the Way study with that same stark simplicity, the call of Jesus to “Come, follow me.” That invitation isn’t moralistic or demanding; it’s relational, drawing us into the rhythms of a Teacher whose life becomes our shaping ground. As you hear that whisper echo across the room, you realize: faith isn’t a checklist, but an apprenticeship.
via Practicing the Way
This journey isn’t meant to be walked alone. Comer underscores that Christianity finds its groove not from isolation, but around a table, amid laughter and vulnerability, sharing joys and scars together. This study offers guided exercises and reflection questions to help deepen these intentional connections in real community. Here at FCCHB, we believe wholeheartedly in relational faith, that living like Jesus involves confessing, encouraging, bearing burdens, and growing in love as one body.
At FCC, our mission is simple but profound: living the grace and purpose of Jesus together. That vision isn’t just something we say, it’s something we practice. The framework of Practicing the Way brings that mission to life by inviting us to reorder our lives around the very person of Jesus. Through a shared Rule of Life, to be with Jesus, become like Him, and do as He did, we take intentional steps that help us live with grace, purpose, and unity. These practices aren’t meant to be private disciplines only; they’re communal rhythms that shape how we grow, serve, and reflect Christ in the everyday.
Whether you don’t know how to pray or engage Scripture, or maybe you feel as though you lost traction in your faith. Practicing the Way doesn’t overwhelm; it invites. Through video content, group discussion, and a shared meal, the practices - community, prayer, generosity, solitude, worship, and others - are presented in as accessible steps toward being reshaped by Jesus.
So here’s your invitation. Not to get it perfect, but to show up, to practice, and to discover together how a participatory faith and meeting in community, can become FCC’s most vital expression of the Way.
